Greetings,
It was a blessing to return to both Dixon and Sheridan Correctional Centers this past week. It is always a joy to see returning students and being introduced to the new students.
The turnout at Dixon was a little disappointing only 18 of 40 registered students for the Discipleship class and only three of a registered nine students showed up for the Malachi Dads class. Hopefully, it was because a lot of the students forgot about the classes starting and will attend next week. Nonetheless please pray for more students in both classes.
It was quite the opposite at Sheridan though I haven’t had time to review the attendance sheets there were approximately 70 students in the two Malachi Dads class and 68 for the two Discipleship classes.
I thank you for your prayers on my behalf especially in teaching the introduction class of ‘Assurance of Faith’ in the three Discipleship classes, which was one of the more challenging classes I had to prepare for, but it was well-received, one student in Dixon thanking me for bringing in ‘deeper stuff’ and not ‘fluff’ as it gives them a greater understanding of knowing God than the fluff.
As usual, a good number of the Malachi Dad students are not believers, pray that I share the Gospel weekly. Several students from last term's Malachi Dads classes at Sheridan are enrolled in this term's Discipleship class.
It was a bittersweet moment in the Friday evening Discipleship class at Sheridan. It was the last class for Aaron who goes home next week. Aaron has been a student since June 2018 and it was very encouraging to see how God placed a hunger for God’s Word into Aaron and watch him grow in His walk with Christ. Quite often when a question and discussion came up in class, Aaron was equipped to reference Scripture to give the discussion a biblical response. Praising God he is going home but saddened to lose him as a student. Please pray that Aaron continues to grow in Christ, that he gets connected to a sound Bible teaching church (I gave him a couple of recommendations, one of which he is very much leaning towards attending), and that whichever church he chooses there is a mature Christian man to come along Aaron with the desire to mentor him
Please remember out chaplains Rob and Leon.
To Him be the glory!
