Greetings,
Well, it was week two of being locked out of the prisons and with the ever-spiraling confirmed cases of the Coronavirus, I don’t see any return on the horizon.
I pray all of you and your families and loved ones have not been directly affected by the virus in the ways of contracting the virus or loss of job and income and are enduring the whole crisis well. To all the medical workers, truckers, first responders, store clerks and stockers, restaurant employees and other essential workers, I give prayers of thanks for your perseverance in this difficult time.
I did have one prison ministry related activity this week I was contacted by Dixon’s Chaplain and asked to write a one-page note of encouragement that he would print off and distribute to my students. Grateful that God has blessed both Dixon and Sheridan with two very godly men who have a heart for the prisoners.
By God’s grace Michelle remains working from home and working hard I might add. I’m disciplining myself better in the reading of God’s Word in study and mediation, devotion reading. I completed the commentary of 1 & 2 Peter (though I started before Covid-19) by R. C. Sproul and started his commentary on Matthew. I’m trying to share God’s work in social media but thus far not getting a whole lot of likes and shares but I’ll continue if only one person comes to know God and or closer to God it was well worth the post.
The quarantine of Michelle and I being home has improved our time together in daily prayer as we become aware of certain circumstances and can stop what we are doing and go to God in prayer.
I love to share God’s Word and I think two topics that we all are encountering are perseverance and trust in God. Here are some verses that speak to those topics;
Perseverance: 1 Chronicles 16:11, Acts 14:22. Romans 5:3-5, 12:12; James 1:12, 1 Peter 5:7
Trusting in God: Proverbs 3:5-6, 29:25, Isaiah 41:10, 43:2; Jeremiah 17:7-8, John 14:1, 2 Corinthians 5:7
One final reference to God’s Word 2 Timothy 2:1-5. These verses sum up to me my call in life and specifically prison ministry, may it be a part of your call.
To Him be the glory in ALL things!
