Greetings
Week 33 of the lockdown ๐.
COVID-19 cases as of 10/31/20; Dixon: confirmed staff 59, recovered staff 37, confirmed inmates 136, recovered inmates 37 | Sheridan: confirmed staff 22, recovered staff 16; confirmed inmates 22, recovered inmates 22. I was shocked by the Dixon number this week. Dixon was almost untouched this past Spring into Fall. Please pray the increase would come to a halt. Praise God the cases for inmates at Sheridan is holding.
Pretty much an uneventful week. No more info from Chaplain McClimans on SOCPM doing some classes via WebEx. SOCPM on ZOOM was canceled, J. D. had a family emergency, and I didn't hear from Joe or any of the others. ๐
This week's Weekly Notes was based on Redeemer Fellowship's mid-week message started a 3-part series, Essential Tools for Effective Bible Reading (Part 1). The series will be led by Dave DeHann, a member of my church, Redeemer Fellowship. When I first met Dave when he worked at Moody Publishing and helped SOCPM get some books for SOCPM students donated by Moody. Dave is currently Director of Church Partnership at Leadership Resources International. A ministry with the mission to shepherd and teach pastors around the world and encourage them in their teaching Godโs Word. An additional resource from this week's message is, Dig and Discover Principles, published by Leadership Resources and is available for download in color and black & white. I hope someday to implement into SOCPM's curriculum or distribution table material.
I wish I had a positive update on my son Cameron unfortunately he has slipped further into an unfavorable situation. I won't take up your time with all the details, but Wednesday, I received a text from his mom that he had OD and was in the hospital and had COVID-19. I called the hospital, and all they would tell me was he was conscious and aware enough to say he did not want to talk to anyone. He was discharged Thursday and had a 3-way call with his mom that was simply an agonizing call when it centered on him getting help. His social worker is seeking a court order to have him admitted to a state mental hospital as he is suicidal, it was his intention resulting in his OD. My prayer is she will obtain the order and that Cameron will comply when he is interviewed by the judge, but first and foremost his salvation, trusting in that through Christ he will have victory over his addiction.
Trusting God will indeed use Cameron for His glory someday.
To Him be the glory in ALL things and to Him alone!
