SOCPM Newsletter | Oct. 03, 2020

Greetings

Week 29 of the lockdown ๐Ÿ˜ž.

COVID-19 cases as of 10/03/20; Dixon: confirmed staff 17, recovered staff 16, confirmed inmates 26, recovered inmates 25 | Sheridan: confirmed staff 15, recovered staff 15; confirmed inmates 22, recovered inmates 22.  The number recovered case of COVID-19 is nearing 100% at both facilities. Please continue to pray for the mark of 100% recovered and no new cases.

Pastor Joe Thorn did have a new mid-week message this week, 'Losing Your Religion.' A copy of the Weekly Notes was sent to both Dixon and Sheridan chaplains and also been posted to SOCPM's website.

SOCPM on ZOOM received a message from one of its Alumni stating he would be joining us this week. Unfortunately, schoolwork prevented him from attending this week's planned study. Schoolwork also prevented another SOCPM Alumni from attending and traffic delays stopped two other alumni from being able to connect to ZOOM. The bottom line is SOCPM on ZOOM was canceled this week ๐Ÿ˜. However, it is not dampening my spirit to persevere. Despite a less than ideal start, I plan on continuing with SOCPM on ZOOM and the study of 2 Timothy: Standing Firm in Truth.

It was a blessing to receive an e-mail this week from Ligonier Ministries announcing a change in their Chaplain Outreach program. Registered chaplains have been given a substantial credit to Ligonier's online store. I reached out to both Dixon and Sheridan chaplains with some suggestions on how to possibly meet some possible needs for their chaplaincy needs.

Not necessarily SOCPM news, but as a follow-up to the damage done to my Toyota, Penske sent me their settlement. I really didn't have an option in accepting or not accepting, but after talking with my mechanic of my options on how to best use the settlement, his suggestion agreed with Michelle's and mine. As I told my mechanic 'I want my Toyota to die when it reaches 301k miles (hopefully) it is currently 267.7k, as opposed to dying because someone hit it while it was just parked. The bottom line is my Toyota drives on!

To Him be the glory in ALL things and to Him alone!
